Sarah was an ENOA Artist 2013-14, having been chosen to attend the composition course in LOD MusikTheatre, Ghent in December 2013, run by European Network of Opera Academies, and Silbersee Opera.
The course focused on composing for voice. The course culminated in December 2014 with a third course in Ghent and a public performance (with an interim workshop held in Ghent in May 2014).
She was generously supported by Aldeburgh Music to attend this course.
Sarah, alongisde the other selected composers, worked with singers of Silbersee, Eva Reiter (viola da gamba, Paetzold bass recorder), and Tom Beets (subcontrabass recorder) on short extracts of music, and developing a full piece for voices and electronics . During the course, the singers also presented other contemporary repertoire and discussed different ways of singing and writing for the voice.
As part of the process, Sarah was also interviewed by Radio X (Brussels) about the ENOA project and her composition background.
‘Dim Light Bright White’ was premiered at LOD Theatre, Ghent in December 2014 by Silbersee and Tom Beets (recorder) and Wouter Snoei (electronics).
