Aldeburgh English Song Project 2013

Sarah was chosen to participate in the Aldeburgh English Song Project 2013.

During the course in February 2013, the composers were tasked with creating new settings of English poetry for voice and piano, whilst studying Britten’s and others’ musical response to text, the technical demands of voice and keyboard, mentored by composers John Woolrich and Huw Watkins, poet Lavinia Greenlaw and tenor Richard Elgar.

The songs begun on this course were developed over subsequent months, with further sessions taking place workshops at the Brunel Institute of Composing at Easter, and in June during an Aldeburgh Festival masterclass with Ian Bostridge and young singers.

New Dreams for Old was performed at Club Inégales, London on 5th Dec 2013, alongside other works by composers on the Aldeburgh English Song Project 2013.
